How do people transfer from Community Colleges to 4 year University?
Hi, I heard most of community college students transfer from community colleges to University or attend university after their 2 years with Assosiate degree. After completing your first year at community college, can you transfer to universities such as University of Washington with the Assosiate's degree and certain amount of GPA and if so, how much GPA do you need in average? Also, if you complete 2 years of education with Assosiate's degree in Community college, are you pretty much guaranteed to attend 4 year universities such as University of Washington? Thanks for the answers in advance!

- if yo have a decent GPA, and the university has a corresponding bachelors program it should not be any problem at all. even if you want to pursue a different program, it should not be a problem.
- Talk to the advisor at the school you want to go to. They are very willing to help as long as you put in the effort to do it.
- Make sure the schools are each accredited or else classes at community college may not transfer to the Univ. Get in contact with a counselor at the Univ to make sure that your classes correspond to the major at the Univ. For example: Your AA in Business may not require you to take Accounting II, but your BS in Business probably does...if your community college offers it, take it there!! Most likely it will be a lot easier and cheaper. Most of the time, if you go to a Univ within same state as you received your AA, you are guaranteed to attend, of course your GPA has to be acceptable for the major your are choosing at the Univ.
