How respectable are online degrees?

I've been thinking of gettind an online degree to help me change my career, and to get a job in the field i want to work in...but how exactly "good" are online degrees? Do employers take them seriously?

  1. They're just fine, but believe it or not they're quite a bit more work and effort than an accelerated "adult learning" program at a normal school.
  2. depends on what your career is and what company you want to work for.
  3. It depends on what you are studying and what you want to do with your degree. Some online degrees will not transfer to universities at which you may wish to pursue a graduate degree. In this case, if you want to pursue an academic career, they are problematic. If you want to earn a degree to learn something and use that knowledge to get a promotion or learn a new skill set, they are just as valuable as any other degree.
  4. im not sure how seriously employers take them but my sister signed up for an online school and it wasnt real....theres alot of schools that are being advertised and you send them your money and you do your "classes" and they send you a fake degree...
  5. One thing I like about them, they allow you take classes at your owe paste. You don't have to worry about being there on time, turn in paper on time, and the teacher is willing to help you on the phone or live on-line, or e-mail.
