Has anyone had experience with online degrees?

Has anyone earned an online degree and found it to be beneficial? If so, where to you receive it from, what major, and what do you do now? Thanks guys!

  1. Yes, I had some classes in business and accounting. My friend took some classes on-line for fashion merchandising. For me, it was ok since I already had a degree in business and took some extra (basic) classes. Especially if you take winter or summer classes, they take only a few weeks so fast and easy. But my friend took one class with a really tough teacher. She almost failed the class and she said she never learned anything. So she went back to "regular" classes. If the subject of the class is totally new to you, it is tough. But if it is like something you already know, it is not too bad. I say take many basic classes on-line like liberal arts... good luck
  2. It was not very beneficial...
  3. I'm completing my doctorate in educational leadership online. Like many on-site degree programs, you will have excellent professors and you will have not so excellent professors. If you are not self-motivated and a self-starter, online classes can be difficult. People who don't take time-management seriously and plan for class time often find themselves struggling with the online environment. I know that my program was pretty strenuous, and I learned quite a bit in some of the classes. Statistics online was difficult, but I probably would have had difficulties with that class regardless of the setting. I teach in a high school, and I'm now working on Chapters 4 and 5 of my dissertation. Completing classes online allowed me to work and to go to school. Like most education, you get out of it what you put into it.
