How can people become divorce attorneys? Okay, I respect attorneys. They are necessary and they usually serve society with the best interests. But how could anyone have the drive to become a divorce attorney? How could anyone be that cold and ruthless to be the one responsible for breaking apart a family? Please, someone lend me some insight. Maybe these people aren't as heartless as I think they are.

How can peopel become divorce attorneys? Criminal attorneys, tax attorneys, corporate attorneys, injury attorneys, and all the other types are cool in my book. These are all very interesting fields and if I was to be an attorney I would pick one of these. But how can someone who graduated from law school choose to work as a divorce attorney? It must be so sad dealing with all those cases. True, as a criminal attorney you may have to defend someone who you know deserves to go to jail or as an injury attorney you may have to deal with crybabies who don't really deserve the millions of dollars they are getting. But to work as a divorce attorney just seems so wrong. I mean, how could someone be the one that's helping to break apart a family? It just seems so sad and wrong to me.

She tries to play with son and he criticizes her, like I said he is mentally abusing her. Calls her names in front of son, yells at her. Who, What, Where does she turn for help. I don't have the money for her an attorney, I'm on Soc Sec Disability and my husband's income just pays for the roof over our heads. HELP!!!!

Regarding the finalization of my divorce in California. Any divorce attorneys out there to answer? I've tried to finalize my divorce twice since last November on my own since it's too costly to hire an attorney. Everytime I submit the FL-820 form it comes back telling me to correct the mistakes indicated. Along with that returned form is another paper telling me that my ex-husband is the petitioner & that I am the respondent on top of the page. Which is better for a divorce and attorney, paralegal, or mediator? I would like a divorce, but don't have the full 3k for the attorney I spoke with. I was then told by a friend to go to a paralegal that assists with divorces. Then I was told by another friend to go to a mediator which is a lot cheaper than a paralegal. Well the paralegal costs $300 to $400. Not sure how much the mediator costs. We have 1 small child and a house and have been married 6 years. Plus he will not easily give me a divorce. Not sure who to have help me. Thanks!

Question for Attorneys ~ Divorce in California ~ Abandonment ? Is there anyone who can give me some insight? My friend is Seeking a Divorce from her Husband of 26 years. He has abandoned her and is out of the Country. Can she file a Divorce and go before a Judge and say that he is out of the Country and refusing to sign and be granted the dicorce? Also he has been gone over 6 months and will not sign a power of attorney for her to sell the home, is there anything a Judge will do to assit her filing without an Attorney? Any Michigan divorce attorneys here?? A very close man in my life is in the process of a divorce. It was an 8 year marriage, no children or property involved. He works full time in the automotive industry which we all know is in BIG trouble. He has been laid off about half of this year already & has made many many thousands less this year than previous years, including last year. She works part time for a school district as some type of aid or babysitter while parents are in school or something like that. He continued to pay her car lease & insurance until the lease was paid off & then she came up with the cash to pay the bal. of $7,000.00 off. She left him almost 14 months ago & they had seperate bedrooms for 5 years proior to her moving out. During that 5 years she had at least 2 different boyfriends and is currently living with a man & moved right in with him as soon as she moved out of the marital home (a rental). He hired a firm in Southfield that claims to fight for men. Well he has been getting the short end of the stick all along. He was court ordered to pay her $900.00 a month in spousal support which will be taken right from his check here shortly. He's not making the money to be able to afford this. He was also court ordered to pay $2,000.00 for her attorney fees. Last week when she show caused him for not paying the spousal support, the judge would NOT even listen to his attorney who did give a good fight, it was like the judge had already had his mind made up. Now, the next step is mediation scheduled for October & the divorce is scheduled to finalize in November. My question is, can he request a new judge at this point?? I am unsure why this judge is being so hard on him, he really is a good solid honest dependable man. I need some feedback quickly on this matter. Thanks in advance. Her father is a retired chief of police, seems to me like there just may be some sort of connection here & he will be screwed. Or maybe her attorney & the judge have a personal relationship, would that be a confilct of interest? I won't mention the judges' name but what I can say is he is the judge that had been accused of an indecent act at Metro airport in July of 2001 which he was later cleared of. Can friends & family legally protest this judges decision in front of the court house while exhibiting proof without legal issues?? Would this make the judge rethink this issue or just be harder on the man? Are circuit court judges employed by the state? If so, how would a supervisor be contacted.
